Summary
OmaStadi is Helsinki's approach to participatory budgeting. With 1,372 votes, my proposal secured a budget of 370,000€ for a local sports arena for the residents of Alppila, Pasila, and Konepaja by creating branding and a viral marketing campaign for the project.

The Winning Proposal
I planned, created, produced, and marketed the winning proposal with Irja Nykänen, earning 1,372 votes for a sports arena for local residents in Helsinki's participatory budgeting.
The campaign was led by national basketball team captain Shawn Huff and received widespread media coverage. The campaign included a website, print, social media, and most notably a viral video featuring drone shots over the neighborhood.

Making the Venue Reality
After the campaign's success, I contributed to the venue design by providing feedback and involving experts from each sport to ensure everything was of the highest quality.
Once the venue was completed, it was featured on a national TV show for kids with Lauri Markkanen teaching basketball tricks – which was also shared on Utah Jazz's social media accounts.
MediaDesign for CauseHighlights
This project was very rewarding, although it required a lot of patience. In the digital world, change is instant, whereas in the physical world, building and decision-making take more time. There were also budget constraints and spatial challenges that needed to be addressed with the environment designer before construction. It was great to connect with the local community, including schoolteachers, residents, and experts from different sports.

Execution
Ideated and planned the sports venue, which includes a basketball court, outdoor gym, street workout area, and parkour zone.
Real-world
Utilized digital design for a physical space to create a venue that is both functional and fun.
Community
Engaged with the local community, both from the voters' and organizers' sides, successfully lobbying for a good cause.
Leverage
Achieved over a 3,000% return on investment with a budget of just over a thousand euros for the local community, receiving 1,372 votes.
